By Sea

St Marys Boat Services lies on the North River, which is a tributary of the St Marys River. The St Marys River forms the border between Florida and Georgia, running into Cumberland Sound and then into the sea north of Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island.

  • ICW north of Fernandina Beach, Florida via main buoy channel towards Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base.
  • St. Marys River opens up to your west and runs east/west.  Turn and enter St. Marys River -- stay in middle -- don't cut corners.
  • Green Marker #3 on south side is opposite entrance to North River.   Use this as a guide to entering North River but do not cut the corner -- favor west side of center.
  • Proceed up North River keeping to outside of curves and following the line where the ebb tide will run the strongest
  • When you reach the shrimp boat dock, follow along close to shrimp boats
  • You will see a little grassy island in front of you
  • The grassy island is off our premises and our travel hoist dock
  • You are going to come inside the grassy island
  • A sand bar runs from the end of the grassy island so stay close to line of shrimp boats, etc.
  • Approximately 12 feet of water at high tide
